Hosted at Sisu on Medway City Estate, the personal training gym provided the perfect setting to connect, grow and build a stronger future together.
Our first Medway City Estate Connections networking event brought together businesses from across the estate for a morning of introductions, conversations and new opportunities.

Hosted by Sarah and Matt Grimshaw, owners of Sip at Sisu, the event provided a relaxed and welcoming setting for local professionals to meet. Sisu is a personal training gym focused on helping people become stronger, fitter and more resilient, making it an ideal venue for an event built around positive attitudes, progress and community. With great coffee from Sip helping the conversations flow, it was the perfect way to launch the network.

We were delighted to welcome a diverse range of people from businesses working in printing, marketing, construction, broadcasting, training and apprenticeships, equipment hire, health and safety, business support, IT support, software, mechanical and electrical contracting, commercial cleaning and the charity sector, among many others.
The variety of businesses in the room made for some genuinely interesting conversations. People met potential suppliers, customers, collaborators and useful contacts, often discovering businesses they had not previously realised were operating just around the corner.

That is exactly why Medway City Estate Connections was created.
There are hundreds of businesses based on Medway City Estate, representing an enormous range of skills, services and expertise. Yet many of us know surprisingly little about the companies working only a few doors or streets away. Our aim is to change that by giving businesses more opportunities to become visible, meet one another and understand how they could work together.

Connecting with businesses on your doorstep gives you an immediate starting point. You already share the same location and understand many of the same local opportunities and challenges. From traffic and parking to changing facilities and the wider development of the estate, there is already plenty in common before the first conversation has even begun.

There is also something reassuring about knowing who is nearby. The right supplier, trusted professional, new customer or helpful introduction could already be based on the estate. Bringing people together makes it easier to find that expertise, recommend local businesses confidently and keep more opportunities within the community.
Our launch event demonstrated just how valuable those conversations can be.
The atmosphere was friendly, open and collaborative. People were interested in learning about one another’s businesses, but they were also willing to share advice, make introductions and explore how they might be able to help. It did not feel like a room full of people simply trying to sell to one another. It felt like the beginning of a genuine business community.

For us, successful networking is not measured by how many business cards are exchanged. It is about creating the right environment for people to become familiar with one another, build trust and recognise opportunities to work together.
The strongest business relationships rarely develop from one brief conversation. They grow through regular contact, shared experiences and a willingness to support each other. That is why this event was only the starting point. By meeting regularly, businesses can continue conversations, follow up on introductions and build relationships that become genuinely valuable over time.

Our launch event offered an exciting glimpse of what is still to come.
Medway City Estate Connections will continue creating opportunities for businesses to meet, increase their local visibility and build relationships with the people around them. As the network develops, we hope to see more referrals, collaborations, partnerships and friendships emerging between businesses across the estate.

A strong local business community benefits everyone. It makes valuable expertise easier to find, creates opportunities for businesses to support one another and gives the estate a stronger collective voice.
Thank you to Sarah and Matt for hosting us, and to every person who attended and helped make our first event such an enjoyable and successful one.
This was only the beginning, and we are looking forward to seeing where these new connections lead.
